M.M.CHURCH CHOIR
Trivandrum
Mateer Memorial C.S.I. Church Choir is one of the leading choirs of Trivandrum.
It is the oldest in this city. It consists of more than 120 members.
Mr. Prem Chand is the choir master.
Mr. Jayakumar Alfred, Mr. S.P.Thomas, Mr.A.E.J.Benedict,Mr. Devakumar,
Mr.Jose H Jones
Prof. Poovithankam serving as Organists/Music leaders.
Mr. Vivek Livingstone serving as Junior Choir Master.
While the new Church was dedicated for Divine Service in the year 1906,
Mrs. H.T.Wills was the first to undertake the leadership of the Church Choir,
playing the organ she had purchased for the M.M.Church. Mrs. H.T.Wills left her
charge in 1912.
M/S. Paul R.Thomas, M.J.Jesudas, C.R.Thompson and others had rendered
valuable services in leading the Choir and playing the organ since 1912. Mr. J.John,
the outstanding musician and the worthy grandson of the famous Moses Walsalam Sastriar,
took charge of the Choir in 1918 and did meritorious service till 1952,
with short breaks during which M/s. J. Tompson Geoffrey Das, J.C.Bose,
Albert Joseph(twice), J.C.Alexander, Bramwell Thomas and
Gladstone Moses had rendered their valuable services to the Church Choir.
Mr. Albert Joseph took charge of the Choir in August 1952 and did
yeoman service till 1987.
Mr. S.P.Thomas took charge of the choir in 1988.
